Bill comes to Earth Knowledge with an outstanding track record for decades of leading innovate paradigm shifts to true sustainability in architecture and design. His award-winning work is highly sought after as is his thought leadership in bringing transformational shifts to his and other’s planning and design. He is passionate about building a restorative world, in vision and in practice, and is another outstanding addition to our Earth Knowledge Advisory Board.

Bill Sturm is a cofounder of Serena Sturm Architects, an architectural firm that was a pioneer in sustainable design and thus known for delivering beautiful buildings that performed beautifully. During a career spanning more than four decades, Bill has lectured extensively, juried professional awards and has been featured on radio, TV and within the print media.

Bill is a past member of AIA National’s Energy Leadership Group after serving as the 2014 Chairman of AIA National’s Committee on the Environment where he strengthened professional inclusion of students and emerging professionals by initiating the “AIA Student Top Ten Awards”. In 2007 Bill and his partner Marty Serena were the inaugural recipients of Chicago Magazine’s “Green Chicagoan Award” and Bill was later presented a Smith Symposium, Environmental Leadership Award by the Friends of Ryerson Woods. Currently Bill is designing two “carbon neutral + net zero” projects and is assisting Carmel Catholic High School’s (Mundelein, IL) transition to campus wide, onsite renewable energy generation.
